Our history
IASI grew from within the profession in 2002 to set standards, move toward certification, protect a distinct professional identity, and help Structural Integration grow as a respected part of health care. In 2007, the first Certification Exam for Structural Integration (CESI) was given at the IASI Symposium in Boston. More than 400 candidates worldwide have taken it since.
What we do
Standards and credibility
IASI recognizes training programs that meet its Basic Education Standards and, through the Certification Board for Structural Integration, offers the profession's Board Certification.
Public awareness
We help the public understand what Structural Integration is and how it differs from massage and other bodywork.
Advocacy
We monitor legislation and advocate for Structural Integrators to be recognized as distinct health care providers.
A self-governing profession
A profession keeps its freedom by governing itself. Through IASI, the field oversees:
- Training standards and the recognition of schools
- A code of ethics with a formal complaint process
- Quality continuing education
- Communication and connection among members
Governance
IASI is led by a Board of Directors and supported by member committees, including the Education Committee, the Standards & Ethics Committee, and the Certification Board for Structural Integration (CBSI). Learn how certification is governed.
