Before the exam
How long does the eligibility review take?
Once we receive your complete application and all required documents, review typically takes up to 10 business days. We'll notify you when you're approved. Incomplete applications may delay processing.
Can I request testing accommodations?
Yes. Candidates who need reasonable testing accommodations should:
- Submit the request with their eligibility application
- Provide appropriate supporting documentation
- Allow enough time for review before scheduling an exam
Requests are reviewed according to exam administration policies and procedures.
How long do I have to schedule my exam after approval?
Once your eligibility is approved and your payment is confirmed, Pearson VUE will email your exam authorization. You must schedule and take the exam within your assigned testing window, typically one month. If the window expires, you may need to be reauthorized.
Is the CESI offered internationally?
Yes. The CESI is given at Pearson VUE testing centers worldwide. You can choose from available centers in your region when you schedule. Availability varies by location.
Exam day
What identification do I need?
Bring two forms of valid identification. At least one must be a government-issued photo ID, and the name on your ID must match the legal name you registered with. Without the required ID, you may be turned away.
What if I miss my exam appointment?
Missed appointments are subject to Pearson VUE policies. If you don't show up, you may need to re-register and pay a new exam fee. For rescheduling, contact Pearson VUE directly.
After the exam
How long does it take to get my results?
Results are issued according to Pearson VUE scoring procedures. You'll receive an official pass/fail notice after the exam. Board Certification is granted only after official confirmation.
Is certification granted automatically when I pass?
Certification is granted after:
- Official confirmation of a passing result
- Verification of eligibility requirements
- Completion of all required administrative steps
Your certification then begins its active cycle.
What happens if I don't pass?
You can retake the exam. Each attempt requires a new registration and exam fee. Before retesting, we encourage you to review the Study Guide and the exam content areas.
How long do I have to wait before retaking the exam?
There's no required waiting period unless your authorization instructions say otherwise. Each attempt requires a new registration and full payment. If eligibility requirements change before you retest, you'll need to meet the requirements in effect when you reapply.
