Apply for Board Certification

Becoming a Board Certified Structural Integrator (BCSI) shows that you've met the certification requirements, passed an independent competency exam, and uphold the profession's standards of practice. Here's how to apply for eligibility, register for the CESI, and earn your certification.

Before you apply: eligibility

To apply for the CESI, you must:

  • Graduate from a Basic Training at an IASI Recognized Program
  • Submit proof of graduation and an official transcript
  • Agree to abide by the IASI Code of Ethics, Scope of Practice, and certification policies

Step 1: Submit your eligibility application

Complete the online CESI Eligibility Form.

Upload these documents as PDFs:

  • Basic Training certificate
  • Basic Training transcript

Before you upload

  • The name on your documents must match the legal ID you'll use on test day.
  • Include your last name in every file name.

Your eligibility application must be approved before you can register for the exam.

Step 2: Pay the exam fee

Exam fee: $250

Register and pay through the Pearson VUE exam registration portal.

Paying doesn't schedule your exam. You'll schedule in the next step.

Step 3: Schedule your exam

After your payment is confirmed:

  • Your testing window will be authorized.
  • Pearson VUE will email you scheduling instructions within 10 business days.
  • You can then book your exam at an available Pearson VUE testing center.

Please don't contact Pearson VUE about scheduling until you've received your authorization email.

About the exam

The Certification Exam for Structural Integration (CESI):

  • Has 120 multiple-choice questions
  • Is given at Pearson VUE testing centers worldwide
  • Is built on a validated Practice Analysis of Structural Integration
  • Assesses entry-level competency for safe and effective practice

After you pass

Once you pass the CESI:

  • You've earned the right to use the Board Certified Structural Integrator (BCSI) designation.
  • Your certification enters a recertification cycle.
  • You'll need ongoing continuing education (CE) hours to keep your certification active.

Maintaining your certification

To keep active BCSI status, you must:

  • Complete 24 CE hours each recertification cycle, including at least 12 Structural Integration-specific hours
  • Renew by the posted deadline each cycle
  • Remain in compliance with IASI certification policies, including the professional and ethical codes of conduct

If you don't complete recertification, you lose active status and the right to use the BCSI designation. Reinstatement policies apply and may require retaking the CESI.
